Eating Together

For the last three nights we have shared our dinner meal with a group of other travelers along the path staying in the same Gite, Chambre d'Hôte or Convent with us. The majority are from France, and are on holiday for a week or two to walk along the GR65. In all 3 cases, we were the only Americans at the table.
It always felt a bit uncomfortable for us because our French is at the level of a young child. What has impressed us has been their patience and willingness to include us in their conversations in spite of the language difficulties.

Tonight we were introduced as Americans from California and everyone (including the nuns) clapped as if we were movie stars.

I'm so grateful for the kindness of all our fellow travelers.

This photo was taken at Gîte La Maison en Chemin. It is one of the nicest places we have stayed. The food was wonderful, the had laundry facilities and clean, comfortable rooms. We appreciated the warm welcome and the hot cocoa after walking through a driving rainstorm for 3 hours.

Twice we have been seranaded with a famous song in France about a blue house in San Francisco. You can check out the lyrics here:
